A recent technology grant has allowed Alley Cat Advocates to upgrade our phone system to more efficiently answer and manage the 500+ calls we receive each month! Louisville, KY - November 17, 2015 - Alley Cat Advocates (ACA) has received a grant of $84,000 from PetSmart Charities®, the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America. The funds will help ACA reduce number of cats euthanized in local shelters by providing spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and veterinary care for 2,100 unowned community cats in southwest Louisville. This year we've had an unusually high number of cats in foster care ... from litters of kittens to community cats with injuries, infections and parasites. Right now there are 84 cats in the homes of Alley Cat Advocates foster volunteers. Since we began, Alley Cat Advocates has been committed to providing a gold standard of care to our community cats. Important announcement: All cats are special! But one group of cats here in Metro Louisville is currently extra special...those cats with FIV! For years, a simple blood test labeled cats as FIV. Testing positive meant that these felines suffered immediate death at our local shelter. Now we know that's not necessary - these cats can live long, healthy, normal lives.
