Scout Supports Alley Cat Advocates

Logan Thompson has been scouting most of his life. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 4089 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Logan chose Alley Cat Advocates for his Eagle Scout Project. Logan designed, built and painted 20 new donation boxes with brochure holders to help Alley Cat Advocates share information and fundraise at shops and restaurants around town. After the completion of this project, Logan was awarded his Eagle Scout rank. Congratulations and thank you, Logan!

Norris

This week, good Samaritans, Mychell and her husband found a community cat on the side of the road. They stopped the car and Mychell’s husband gently pulled the lifeless cat across the pavement and onto safety in the grass. When he did that, the cat grabbed onto the concrete! “We knew he was alive. We knew he was a fighter!” Mychell recalled.  They started calling him Norris, as in tough guy Chuck Norris. Norris’ day began badly with this accident. But, he met many good Samaritans on Thursday … Michelle and her husband, his friends [...]

Dusty

Thanks to the awesome supporters and friends of Alley Cat Advocates, Dusty was able to have his critical ear polyp removal surgery (both ears) on May 31st! Surgery went well and Dusty is back home recovering with his foster mom. Surgery on the middle ear impacts balance and coordination, so Dusty is a bit wobbly right now. This will improve/resolve over the next 6 weeks. Dusty will never know all the wonderful people who donated toward his surgery, or those who lifted him up with words of [...]

Whitey … in the Right Place at the Right Time

Whitey wandered into his colony weighing only five pounds . . . just half his expected weight. He was covered in grease and smelled like a dead animal. His eyes were swollen and bright light bothered him. Before and after photos. But Whitey was also lucky! The colony which he joined just happened to be scheduled for the Alley Cat Advocates' Quick Fix. When Whitey arrived at the Quick Fix, he was too sick for surgery and instead went into rehab. During his lengthy stay there, his digestive system had to adjust to [...]

Ms. Kitty

When Ms. Kitty arrived at Alley Cat Advocates for her spay appointment last month, we asked the caretaker if she was having any other medical issues. This is a routine question, because for most community cats, this appointment is likely the only vet visit they will ever have. Her caretaker reported that she appeared to be in pain, barely able to walk, and was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. After the spay procedure, she got the antibiotics she needed and her breathing improved. Unfortunately, x-rays and blood tests showed that her joints were severely [...]

Prince Charming

Prince Charming found his way to Alley Cat Advocates for neuter surgery. During his exam the vet team found that this shy, sweet boy had serious and painful dental problems. Prince Charming's teeth were cleaned, many decayed teeth were removed, and he was neutered. His oral surgery hasn't detered him from being a great eater and enjoying his treats. But, there was something Prince Charming wanted more than food - love. This large cat with a scarred face wanted what most cats do, someone to take the time to get to know him. He may [...]

Charm

Meet Charm.  This unaltered boy with a broken leg was brought to Alley Cat Advocates from Louisville Metro Animal Services.  No one knows when or how Charm was injured.  - Upon arrival, Alley Cat Advocates went to work.  Charm was x-rayed and examined by veterinarians.  The team found that his bone had already started to calcify and heal.  The vet team decided that the best option was to allow Charm's leg to continue to heal on its own.  - Charm was neutered and delivered to foster care.  Since then, he has been recovering in the [...]
