Sheila Mead (left) and Chris Durham, volunteering in a local neighborhood with our Education and Community Outreach Team

As we head into Volunteer Appreciation Week next week, Alley Cat Advocates is proud to spotlight volunteer Sheila Mead. Shelia first learned about Alley Cat Advocates through an advertisement in the Courier Journal five years ago. Since then, she has contributed her time, energy and contagious enthusiasm in a number of ways, including: administrative office work, trap distribution, fundraising support through the Development Team, involvement with the Education & Community Outreach Team, and most importantly, providing care for ill and recovering cats.

What does Sheila like most about volunteering with Alley Cat Advocates? “I love learning all about cats. The volunteers share information that is new to me,” she said. “I have made new friends.”

Sheila also met her new best friend through ACA: “The best of all is Leonardo De Vinci, who I fell in love with and adopted through the Humane Society.”

We greatly appreciate Sheila and all of the volunteers that assist ACA. With their help, we have been able to spay and neuter over 40,000 cats since October 2000!
