Meet Louise – A Community Cat who Needed Extra Care!

Louise came to us from our partners at Louisville Metro Animal Services as a consult case, and from the moment she arrived, our veterinary team got to work making sure nothing was overlooked. While her initial blood work looked normal, her X-rays raised a concern — a possible blockage. Because intestinal blockages can be serious and even life-threatening, our on-staff veterinarian moved forward with exploratory surgery last week to ensure Louise received the highest standard of care. Here’s the good news: during surgery, nothing abnormal was found. Based on what we know, we believe Louise likely passed whatever showed up [...]

Remembering Hurricane Katrina

This past August marked 20 years since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, displacing more than a million people, devastating thousands of lives, and creating an unprecedented animal welfare crisis. In the weeks following Katrina, our very own Karen Little traveled to New Orleans to join animal rescue teams in locating, trapping, neutering, and returning colonies of cats that had survived the storm. Karen wrote about her experience in our Fall 2005 newsletter: While the destruction was enormous, I was thrilled to find happy cats in managed colonies - spayed and neutered cats with ear-tips [...]
