They say it takes a village. Today our village needs your support. Our friends at Louisville Metro Animal Services reached out for help with a community cat named Biddy Bee and we knew that our supporters would be there for us.
Biddy Bee is an ear tipped cat that was dumped in the parking lot of Louisville Metro Animal Services Manslick location in 2014. With her spicy take on being a loveable community cat she quickly adapted to her life at the shelter.
Friendly with dogs, she took her role as Feline Tolerance Tester for shelter dogs and Compassion Fatigue Liaison for staff very seriously. Staff having a bad day could take a break in the sun and enjoy the kooky antics Biddy Bee brought to the day. Sometimes she would run out of nowhere tail up and ready to play! Sometimes it was a meow for assistance when she got up on the trailer and wanted assistance getting down. She was there to snuggle, play, and share lunch with staff and brighten their day. One staff was quoted as saying, “Even on my worst day I could sit back on the picnic table with B. She would stretch out and I would pet her, and the world would be quiet for a while.”
In 2019, when the Manslick location was closed, Biddy Bee was transitioned to a new community where a former LMAS staff member could be her caretaker. She has continued to bring emotional support to staff and foster animals from the shelter.
On Friday, her caretaker warned her that it was going to storm, and she should stay close. When Biddy Bee didn’t come back Friday night her caretaker was worried. When she still wasn’t around Saturday her caretaker reached out to the shelter to let everyone know she was missing. Her caretaker walked the neighborhood with her house dog, Momo, looking for Biddy in the hopes that in the storm Biddy Bee got turned around and lost her way. Late Sunday Biddy Bee made her way back to her caretaker. She was dirty and scared with road rash on her face and a broken jaw.
After giving so much to the staff at MAS, there was no question that she deserved the best care possible. Alley Cat Advocates is committed to helping Biddy B recover from her injuries. Will you help? Treatment will likely come in at around $2,000. Can you help us by donating toward her care?
