Since we began in 1999, Alley Cat Advocates has been dedicated to collaboration with our community partners, Louisville Metro Animal Services and The Kentucky Humane Society.
Leaders of our three community organizations meet to plan, implement and assess the effectiveness of programs designed to increase spay/neuter, improve humane outcomes for animals and increase Louisville’s live release rate – the number of animals that make it out of our community shelters alive.
In 2012 our commitment to collaboration was recognized. Louisville was selected to participate in the ASPCA Community Partner program. The ASPCA worked with Alley Cat Advocates, Louisville Metro Animal Services and The Kentucky Humane Society to provide support, training, financial resources and tools to help partner agencies work together to achieve their shared goals to reduce intake and increase live outcomes. Although the formal ASPCA partnership ended in 2017 as anticipated, the leaders still look toward one another for advice and support.
