Life Saving Treatment Makes A Happy Outcome

We would like to share a very special story.  Max is a young cat who was neutered at the Community Cat Complex.  Very shortly after his neuter, his caretakers noted very odd behaviors.  After some testing, Max was determined to likely have feline infectious peritonitis (FIP).  In the past, an FIP diagnosis was considered fatal.  Fortunately, there has been a great deal of progress made in the treatment of FIP and a treatment now exists.  Unfortunately, this treatment is expensive and hard to get in the US.  Max was very ill when he was diagnosed [...]

Welcome to Nigel’s Catio, Flower

Flower is a young cat in rough shape. When she was brought in to Alley Cat Advocates she suffered from ulcerations to her underside around her vulva. From what we can see, Flower suffers from what is often called Manx Syndrome. The same gene that caused her to be tailless also has negatively impacted her spinal cord. This has caused her to have issues with bladder and bowel incontinence along with an abnormal gait. The ulcerated tissue was likely caused be urine and stool being constantly present on her skin. Treatment for Flower will include [...]

Volunteer Spotlight: Megan Cahill

Megan Cahill has been volunteering with Alley Cat Advocates for about four years now. She helps with our massive loads of laundry behind the scenes, but some caretakers may have met her during Saturday trap distribution. Megan joined the volunteer team because she wanted to help the community cats in our area. She has found that the staff and volunteers are friendly and welcoming. In addition to her 3 indoor kitties, Megan feeds a community cat herself, so she appreciates how important the work that Alley Cat Advocates is for cats in the area.
